In a tropical country like the Philippines, one of the leading causes of dandruff is dry scalp. Dandruff has many causes; dandruff that is greenish or yellowish could be because of fungi or bacteria but the common white flaky dandruff is mostly because of dryness. From our previous talk about treating dandruff, honey has been a good agent to clear your scalp with those pesky flakes and to add to the list we've come up with another natural solution.

You can whip up your own cure for dandruff right at home with an ingredient that we always use: coconut oil. Anti-dandruff treatment doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated. The coconut oil treatment might not only be simple, it could also be very fragrant and leave you feeling delicious and dandruff free.

Coconut oil has very little vitamin & mineral but it is rich in fat and good cholesterol. As it is, it is easily absorbable into the skin. In and of itself, it helps moisturize but when used in conjunction with other ingredients, it helps the properties of these other ingredients be absorbed into the skin. How coconut treats dandruff is by improving the quality of the scalp by enhancing skin functions with added anti-inflammatory components.

Coconut as anti-dandruff treatment could be applied to your scalp as it is or you could warm it up on top of hot water and massage the warm oil on your scalp. You may add lemon juice to this or you may boil the oil first and infuse it with cinnamon.

On top of being having anti-dandruff properties in itself, it is also commonly used as a deep conditioner. Because it smells nice and because it can easily adapt the smell of other fragrances through infusion, you can also use this to make your hair shinier and give it more body.

In the right amounts, having coconut oil in your food when cooking not only adds a new layer of flavor to your dishes, it also adds good cholesterol, improves stress levels, and helps improve liver functions—all of these act as secondary anti-dandruff treatment support as well as hair fall solution.
